TRASH January Meeting: Wassailing & Cider Competition

Kick off the new year with apples, tradition, and a little friendly competition! Our January TRASH meeting will celebrate all things cider with a special wassailing talk and our TRASH Cider Competition.

Guest Speaker

We’ll be joined by Mike from A Few Bad Apples, who will share the history and rituals of wassailing—the age-old tradition of blessing apple trees and celebrating the cider harvest—along with insights into making great cider at home.

Cider Competition Details

We’re thrilled to host our TRASH Cider Competition, judged by BJCP-certified judges!

  • If you participated in the Swope’s Farm cider buy, this is the perfect opportunity to showcase what you made!
  • But even if you didn’t take part in the cider buy, any homemade cider is welcome to enter—the more the merrier!

Sign up to enter your cider here.

After the wassailing and competition, we’ll open things up for a homebrew share—so bring a few bottles or growlers of your latest beer, mead, or cider to pass around and enjoy with the group.

What to Bring

  • Your cider entry (bottles or growlers)
  • Questions for Mike about wassailing or cider making
  • Homebrew to share after the competition
  • A thirst for learning (and tasting!)

Come raise a glass, wake the apple trees, and celebrate the start of 2026 TRASH-style!
